A 3-session programme for neurodivergent parents-to-be and new parents, including pregnant women, dads and partners.
About this Event

This programme will help parents understand how pregnancy, birth preparation and early parenthood can place extra demands on executive functioning, sensory processing and interoception.

We will explore how things like appointments, planning, routines, sleep disruption, feeding, crying, visitors, decision-making, emotional regulation and sensory overwhelm can feel harder when someone is autistic, ADHD, anxious, sensory-sensitive or easily overwhelmed.

The sessions will help parents recognise their own needs, understand what support may help, reduce shame and communicate more confidently with midwives, health visitors, partners, family members and support services.

This is not medical advice or parenting instruction. It is practical, neurodivergent-affirming support to help parents feel more prepared, understood and confident as they move into early parenthood.

Who is this for?

This is for:

  • pregnant women
  • dads
  • partners
  • parents-to-be
  • new parents
  • neurodivergent parents
  • parents who are autistic, ADHD, anxious, sensory-sensitive or overwhelmed
  • parents who struggle with organisation, routines, emotions, planning or body signals

You do not need a diagnosis to attend.

The sessions will cover:

Session 1: Executive Functioning and Becoming a Parent
Planning, appointments, routines, remembering information, decision-making, emotional regulation and how these demands increase once a baby arrives.

Session 2: Sensory Processing and Interoception
Sensory needs, overwhelm, body signals, hunger, thirst, tiredness, pain, anxiety, baby crying, touch, feeding and sleep disruption.

Session 3: Early Parenthood and Support Planning
Understanding what may become harder once the baby is born, communicating needs, asking for support and thinking about practical adjustments.

Parents will leave with:

  • a better understanding of their own brain and sensory needs
  • more awareness of how pregnancy and parenting can increase demands
  • practical ways to think about routines, planning and overwhelm
  • more confidence to explain their needs
  • ideas for support and adjustments
  • reassurance that they are not failing — their needs just need to be understood
