Join Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts and North Australian Festival of the Arts (NAFA) for an exclusive floortalk with Mexico City-based artist Carlos Bautista. Bautista will speak about his exhibition, 'Ink: The Art of Mark-Making', the inspirations behind his exploration of contemporary and ancestral mark-making. Carlos will touch upon the profound and ancient history of tattooing in Mexico, exploring its significance and evolution through time.
This floortalk also offers a unique opportunity to consider the profound international exchange inherent in Carlos’s work, as he bridges diverse cultural narratives through the universal language of mark-making. Gain a richer understanding of how symbols and stories are passed through generations and how the act of marking can embed intimacy and meaning.
Carlos Bautista's 'Ink: The Art of Mark-Making' is on display from 19 September - 2 November 2025.
