Tuscaloosa County Branch NAACP 2026 Juneteenth Living Legend Luncheon
The Tuscaloosa County Branch NAACP is proud to announce that Ms. Sarah "Sue" Thompson has been selected as the 2026 Juneteenth Living Legend!
A trailblazer, advocate, and champion for justice, Ms. Thompson has dedicated her life to advancing civil rights, equal opportunity, and educational equity in our community.
Born and raised in West Tuscaloosa, Ms. Thompson graduated from The University of Alabama and Alabama Law during a time when opportunities for African Americans in the legal profession were limited. In 1974, she helped establish Forte, Thompson & England, the first Black law firm in Tuscaloosa, creating a legacy that continues to inspire generations.
For decades, she served through Legal Services Alabama, representing individuals facing employment discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and advocating for low-income and marginalized communities. Her unwavering commitment to public education, school desegregation, and teacher representation has left an indelible mark on Tuscaloosa and beyond.
