About this Event
Join us at Teesside University’s MIMA in Middlesbrough for a special edition of Tees Business LIVE, examining how arts and culture can drive real economic and social value for Teesside.
With Middlesbrough Council, Teesside University and MIMA working in partnership to bring the world-famous Turner Prize to Middlesbrough in 2026, the event will include an exclusive update on Turner on Tees and an ambitious five-year plan to embed creativity as the lifeblood of how we live, work and grow.
The Turner Prize is expected to attract thousands of visitors from across the UK, shining a national spotlight on Middlesbrough and generating increased footfall for hotels, hospitality, retail and the wider visitor economy.
Beyond the headline event, it provides a platform to showcase Teesside’s creative talent, strengthen pride of place and leave a lasting cultural legacy towards Middlesbrough’s Bicentenary in 2030.
A panel of leading voices from the region’s arts and culture sector will discuss why business backing is essential to maximising this opportunity – and how culture, when supported properly, benefits the whole community.
There’ll also be refreshments over networking and an opportunity to tour MIMA’s new Desire Lines, a major exhibition exploring Tees Valley creativity, community and future hopes through interactive maps, contemporary artists and local heritage.
