A repeat, for those that missed it, of the over-subscribed talk given previously in 2023. The writer Mary Shelley, famous for Frankenstein, lived in Harrow for three years, from 1833 to 1836, while her son attended Harrow School. During this time she wrote prolifically. However the death of a friend and the end of a secret romance led to loneliness and depression. Explore her life in Harrow β including two earlier visits to the area β through her journals and letters.About The Speaker
Linda Davies is a local resident and a retired librarian. She currently leads the Harrow U3A Local History Group. After giving this talk three years ago, she continued researching Mary Shelley in Harrow and has now written a book with the same title.
