Truth Council Community-Led Hearing in Rochester
This winter, our Minnesota families and communities withstood mass-scale human rights violations during Operation Metro Surge. ISAIAH is organizing a community hearing of local stories of how we experienced the surge. These experiences include physical, psychological, familial, economic, and civic harm done; as well as stories of heroism and how Minnesotans showed up for one another with compassion, courage, and resilience during this time.
Local and state leaders are invited to this hearing to listen to and honor these experiences. We will share stories told and gathered with the MN Truth Council, a citizen commission creating a historical record of survivor and witness experiences that will produce a report with recommendations for legislative and policy reform. This event is a partnership of Compassionate Rochester, COPAL, Indivisible 507, ISAIAH, NAACP Rochester Branch, Pamoja Women, Somali American Social Service Association (SASSA), Southeastern MN Interfaith Immigrant Legal Defense (SMIILD), and Works of Mercy.
