The Thompson-Nicola Regional Library is honored to host Nłeʔkepmx, Syílx, and Métis author Nicola Campbell for a special talk, Stories of Resilience, on September 24th at the North Kamloops Library. This event is inspired by her memoir Spílexm, which reflects on recovery, resilience, and resurgence through deeply rooted stories from British Columbia. This deeply moving and insightful event will provide an opportunity to engage with Nicola's personal journey and explore the importance of Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. About Nicola Campbell:
Nicola Campbell is an accomplished writer and scholar from the Nicola Valley. She has authored five children’s books, including Shi-shi-etko and Shin-chi’s Canoe, the latter of which received the 2009 TD Canadian Children's Literature Award. Her most recent book, Stand Like a Cedar, was published in 2021. Nicola's writing weaves cultural teachings and a deep connection to the land, exploring themes of sacred responsibilities and resilience.
