Offering works by Akiho, Koshinski, Schwarz, Otten, Kopetzki, and Daimo, the modern percussion landscape is redefining itself with bold instrumental textures, intricate rhythmic design, and striking sonic architecture. From the cosmic pulse of Fast Radio Bursts to the romantic expressiveness of Kuusi and the cyclical intensity of Samsara, the UAF Department of Music invites listeners to step through a series of musical portals, each revealing a distinct contemporary aesthetic. Featuring Troy Irish, experience the expressive range, technical depth, and evolving identity of percussion in the new millennium at our first graduate percussion recital in nearly a decade.
