Scott Stephen Hansen is a 2019 UAF graduate, a pianist, and a composer of what he calls “accessible works, large and small, for the modern audience.” Born and raised in Southeast Alaska, he earned a master’s degree in music performance in 2021 from the Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. In addition to many other credits, his compositions have been premiered by the North Star Ballet, saxophonist Nick May, the International Trombone Festival and other ensembles both local and abroad.Showcasing many of his original works, Scott will bring with him a variety of community member chamber ensembles, along with featured vocalists Amy Ingram and Taylor Lee. The afternoon will include world-premiers of two chamber works and a set of songs for solo voice and piano. A trombone quartet will include Bill Cox, Eric Schneider, Stan Bollinger and Caleb Renner, while a brass quintet will feature Courtney Miklos, Josh Henderson, Saeward Schillaci, Eric Schneider and Stan Bollinger. Rounding out this ambitious program will be a string quartet that includes Susie Hallinan, Sunnifa Deehr, Jack Cater and Marlys Schneider
