What to expect...

Join us for a thoughtfully curated, workshop of Rousseau-inspired tropical landscapes, reimagined with oil pastels. A workshop where you will explore texture, depth, color, and mark-making techniques.

Guided through a carefully composed still life I will teach you the techniques that will inspire the essence of Henri Rousseau's naive style, with these tools you will go onto explore creating texture, depth and colour with oil pastels that tell the story of tropical tales.

Utilising oil pastel application and techniques to create a rich interpretation of the naive art movement, your final canvas of heavy weight calico will provide the perfect format to represent your artwork - with each canvas completed in a round frame you will be able to hang this piece in pride of place on your wall of art at home or gifted to someone special.

Materials and mediums will be supplied to allow each artist to fully encompass their individual interpretations.

No, one canvas will be the same as you learn to use the tools and techniques which can be developed into your own personal piece.

Through step-by-step guidance, each artist will be supported in learning the technical processes while being encouraged to experiment freely. You’ll be invited to respond intuitively, allowing your unique perspective to unfold through learned oil pastel application and techniques that will enhance your evolving imagery.

This workshop balances structure with creative freedom, creating space for both skill-building and soulful exploration. You’ll leave with a collection of artworks and a final piece that will reflect your individual journey exploring oil pastels and artits Henri Rousseau, and your time spent creating with us at Sketch Events & Socials—grounded, inspired, and creatively fulfilled.
