Return of the Sunday Late Ride

Sunday 26 July sees the return of an old favourite: The Sunday Late Ride.
Historically this has been a ride most suitable for those riders of lesser fitness who might feel nervous about their ability to ride greater distances , or at higher speeds. We also have a leisurely break at a cafe around the half way mark.
We have a policy of having two ride leaders, one at the front leading the way and one at the rear ensuring that nobody gets left behind.
These rides are particularly appropriate for those returning to riding after a break, or as a taster for those new to riding. All ages are welcome but you must be over 18. You can do a trial ride with us without joining SK6 Spinners Cycling Club.
We ride at an easy pace and usually this will correspond to an average speed of around 12 mph.
We will depart from outside Costa Coffee in Marple at 9:30 promptly on Sunday 26th July, so try and be there a few minutes earlier, (and bring a piece of paper of phone with your emergency contact details on for the ride leader to photograph to comply with our health and safety requirements) you will need to wear a helmet.
The route is 28 miles and has 1,450ft of climbing, so nothing too onerous there. From Marple we go up to High Lane, down the A6 and onto smaller lanes over Middlewood to Higher Poynton, Adlington, Mottram St Andrew and into Alderley Edge where at the 15 mile mark, we will take refreshments and a snack at Lily & Rosie’s Cafe. We will then return to Marple via Woodford and the bypass cycle route, Threaphurst Lane and Torkington Lane. We estimate we will be back in Marple around 1:30 to 2:00pm
An easy social ride on fairly flat quiet lanes is our aim with this one.

You can sign up either on the SK6 Spinners website or on the Facebook events page.
In the event of expected adverse weather conditions we will advise attendees by 9:00pm on Saturday if the ride is to be cancelled.
