Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) - 1 Day Course
About this Event
Gain the confidence and practical skills to respond effectively to a first aid emergency in your workplace. This one-day, HSE-compliant course combines essential theory with hands-on practical training, giving you a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification valid for three years.
Whether you're new to first aid or renewing an existing certificate, this course will equip you to act quickly, calmly, and safely when it matters most.
What You'll Learn
- The role and responsibilities of a workplace first aider, including infection control, use of available equipment, and how to record incidents and accidents
- How to assess an emergency situation and respond safely, promptly, and effectively
- Administering first aid to an unconscious casualty and managing seizures
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Managing wounds, bleeding, and shock
- Recognising and responding to choking
- Treating minor injuries including small cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns, scalds, and splinters
Who Is This Course For?
This course is ideal for anyone working in a low to medium-risk environment such as offices, leisure centres, retail, or hospitality settings. It's suitable for both new first aiders and those looking to renew their existing EFAW certificate.
Pre-requisites
None — no previous first aid experience or qualifications are required. Learners must be aged 16 or over to receive certification.
Course Details
- Duration: 1 day — a minimum of 6 contact hours of learning (not including breaks)
- Format: Classroom-based theory and practical training
- Assessment: Continuous assessment by a qualified trainer throughout the day, including practical demonstrations and activities
- Certification: Ofqual-regulated Level 3 Award, valid for 3 years
- Refresher training: The HSE recommends annual refresher training to keep your skills up to date between certifications

- Parking: There is an NCP car park adjacent to the venue: NCP Stockport Exchange Station
