On Friday and Saturday, July 17th-18th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater once again teams up with the world’s most outrageous independent film studio to present two nights of the most renegade cinema you’ll ever see, Tromasterpieces one and all, with TROMA-THON ’26!
Troma Entertainment, formed by Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman in 1974, has been generating some of the most extreme and unforgettable screen sensations for decades, working social commentary subversively into their wild and wacky horror-comedy tales of Tromaville, and this year’s films are no exception!
This year we feature one WORLD PREMIERE, two Troma Classicks on 35mm, and three digital delights from the devious depths of the Troma trenches!

Friday kicks off with the Troma classic CITIZEN TOXIE: THE TOXIC AVENGER IV (2000) on 35mm! See Toxie take on his evil interdimensional doppelganger, Noxie, in a battle to save Tromaville from a tumultuously torrid ‘tastrophe! Directed by Lloyd Kaufman!
Then, we present the WORLD PREMIERE of Director Mercedes The Muse’s POULTRYGEIST II: DAWN OF THE CHICKEN DEAD!!! At long last, the POULTRYGEIST saga continues! When a fast-food conglomerate uses freakily futzed fowl to fuel their feasteries, a frenzy of feathered fear follows! When there’s no more room in Hell, the chicken dead will demolish the drive-thru! Presented digitally.
If you survive that poultry purge, relax with the night’s final provocative presentation, but with one warning…BEWARE! CHILDREN AT PLAY (1989)! Police hunt a Mansonesqe troubled teen turning tykes into rampaging rugrats with a taste for human flesh! More terrifying than an afternoon at Chuck E. Cheese! Directed by Mik Cribben!
Saturday night begins by asking that eternal question, “Wanna date?”, with Frank Henenlotter’s ode to lost love and sleazy old Times Square, FRANKENHOOKER (1990 – newly acquired by Troma)! What’s a man to do when his girlfriend dies in a horrific lawnmower accident? Rebuid her from the parts of Supercrack-addicted streetwalkers, of course! Presented digitally.
Then, grab your tackle and bust out your bobbers when BLOOD HOOK (1987) lobs a lunker in your lap! Muskie Maddness means malevolent murder in this crimson-caked cavalcade of carnage, in which avid anglers get punishingly pierced by a giant fishhook! Directed by MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000’s Jim Mallon! Presented on 35mm.
You’ve held it this long, but WHEN NATURE CALLS (1985), you gotta answer! City dweller goes potty with the metropolitan cesspool and hopes a movement of his family to the country will flush things out, but finds evacuating to the woods is a bigger strain than they expected. A wild comedy with David Strathairn and Freddie Blassie, directed by Charles Kaufman! Presented digitally.
