About this Event
This versatile accessory is perfect for carrying anything a witch might need: cursed artifacts, spell ingredients, faintly glowing grimoires, stolen body parts... and of course, the most wicked thing of all, CANDY!!!
Whether you're a total sewing novice or just want a new project, this beginner-friendly workshop will show you how to make your own personalized tote bag.We will guide you through the whole process: cutting out the pieces from a pattern, using an iron to press and apply interface, and operating a sewing machine to assemble a fully lined tote bag. We'll even show you how to design your own bag pattern and make your own sturdy straps. More experienced sewists can choose to add pockets, or maybe even a zipper.
Materials:
* If bringing fabric: You will need 2/3 yard of "outside" fabric and 1/2 yard of "lining" fabric.
* If upcycling old garments: make sure you can harvest four 18x14" rectangles and two 6" wide 21" long strips.
(Please choose a woven fabric, not a knit!)
Participants are encouraged to bring their own fabric, but are welcome to dive into our motley donation stash if needed.
This will take place in our Art Balcony which, unfortunately, is only accessible by stairs.
We also accept donations to add to our stash.
The tool library provides sewing machines, but you are welcome to bring your own.
This is a FREE class but a suggested donation of $15-$40 will support our instructors and ensure that programming like this can continue.
