Utopia Unlimited and Thornsett Band Join Forces for a Musical Evening to Remember
This September, two of the High Peak’s most creative musical groups – Utopia Unlimited and Thornsett Band – are teaming up for a one-night-only concert that promises a spectacular celebration of music and theatre.
Titled “Trial by Jury and Songs from the stage”, the event takes place on Saturday 13th September 2025 at 7:30 PM at the United Reformed Church, New Mills. Audiences will enjoy a double helping of entertainment. In the first half, Utopia Unlimited – an inclusive youth theatre group – will perform Gilbert & Sullivan’s comic gem Trial by Jury, fresh from performances at the Buxton Fringe and the historic courtroom in Bakewell.
The second half sees Thornsett Band take to the stage with a lively selection of show-stopping numbers from stage and screen – with a few surprises thrown in. The evening will also include joint performances from both groups in a thrilling musical finale.
This concert marks Thornsett Band’s first appearance at the New Mills Festival in many years – a fantastic return for the local brass ensemble.
