About this Event
On Sunday 19th April 2026 join us for a 'Selfcare Sunday' wellbeing walk as take on a 10-mile walking loop of Derwent Water located in the Northern Lake District.
The walk starts in the town of Keswick which is packed with outdoor equipment shops and boutiques. It's a short walk to the Theatre by the Lake and banks of Derwent Water, just south of the town. There's a choice of cafes, restaurants and a range of accommodation in and around the town. The start of the walk and our meeting point will be adjacent to the Keswick Launch Co jetty ticket office near Crow Park on Derwentwater Foreshore.
Derwent Water is 3 miles long and 1 mile at its widest point and 22m at its deepest. It has a particularly rich and varied flora and wildlife, much of which is cared for by the National Trust and if foten reffered to as the Queen of the Lakes.
This scenic 10-mile walk traverses Derwent Water on generally flat and easy well defined paths and tracks, passing through ancient woodlands and along the shores of the lake with an array of majestic lakeland fells all around. The scenery is stunning, with perfect picnic stops and cafés and dotted along our way.
This walk has a distance of 10-miles, a total elevation of 149m and will last around 5-6 hours, at an agreeable but steady pace, including time for rest and viewing stops. This walk is graded as moderate to strenuous given the distance and time required to complete the route. You can expect tired legs after a great achievement by the end of the day.
Trek Therapy are offering this professionally facilitated wellbeing walk as part of our wellbeing walks programme made possible through support from the National Lottery Community Fund.
This activity will be promoting social interaction, the physical and emotional wellbeing benefits of walking in the outdoors and a therapeutic value of nature connection to anyone who would like to participate.
The meeting point for this event will be at 09:45am adjacent to the Keswick Launch Co ticket office where our Trek Therapy leaders will be waiting to greet you.
