We are planting 1,000 trees in one day at Woughton on the Green on Saturday 28th of February 2026. That's a lot of tree we need your help!
About this Event

We are Community Trees MK and we are planting trees across the city of MK with local people.

We are partnering with The Parks Trust to plant 1,000 trees at a site by the river at Woughton on the Green. We are planting tree species which will improve local biodiversity, creating a hedgerow which will become a biodiversity highway through this area of MK. It will enhance the green space for all residents and as the trees grow they will absorb lots of carbon from the atmosphere.

This project was made possible with the support of a grant from The Tree Council's and Defra's Trees Outside Woodland Fund.

To plant trees with us you need to book places in advance.

On the Day:

The date is Saturday 28th February 2026. We will be operating the tree planting session between 10:30 and 15:00 on the day. If you can please join us at 10:30 and if you intend to stay the duration please being a packed lunch and a flask with a warm drink. We will provide water on the day.

We will operate rolling start times on the day, if you are unable to join us at 10:30 then please book a ticket and come along at either 11:00, 12:00 or 13:00. You can stay as long as you like on the day.

We hope to see lots of local people come to help us plant trees. This is an open-air event so please dress for cold and potentially damp weather, please wear stout boots or shoes. Please bring gardening gloves and come ready to do some digging.

No experience is required, full instruction will be given and all tools will be provided. The aim is to have fun while helping the local environment.

This is a family-friendly event, however, toilet facilities are not available at this site.

All under 16's to be accompanied by an adult.

All tools will be provided and will be available when you arrive.

Getting to the planting site:

We would really appreciate it if you were able to walk, cycle or use public transport.

If you need to travel by car, there is a small car park nearby known as Woughton Ouzel Valley Car Park which is just off Newport Road, Woughton on the Green postcode MK6 3EP.

The planting site is a short walk from the car park.
