Join us for this 2-hour guided hike at the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area's (CRNRA) Island Ford Unit co-led by Trees Atlanta and the Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy. This is a quieter area that will provide the right opportunity to explore the trees of the area and begin to identify common invasive species. Learn about the Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy’s efforts to preserve the park units along the River. The CRNRA hosted 3.5 million park visits in 2020 - that's more than the Grand Canyon and Yosemite! While on your visit, you can learn more about how the City of Sandy Springs is participating in Trees Atlanta's One Million Tree Initiative and how you can get involved.The Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy (CNPC) is the official friends group for the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA), a series of fifteen park units along 48 miles of the Chattahoochee River in metro Atlanta. Their mission is to build a community of support for the CRNRA and promote stewardship of its natural and cultural resources.
About the Trees Atlanta Docents: Maxine and Kent Watkins live in Sandy Springs. They enjoy hiking and exploring new parks during their free time. They've been supporting Trees Atlanta's mission for years by planting, pruning and leading tours.
