6 Cultural Competency CEUs through the Oregon NASW This training is for mental health providers and contains information about neurodivergent diagnoses, the social model of disability, lack of access to treatment, advocacy, holistic treatment strategies, resources that individuals/family can use at home, and resources for continued study.
Participants will:
• recognize traits of neurodivergence in clients who may or may not be officially diagnosed.
• analyze, examine, and discuss the ethics of competency vs ableism in the mental health system.
• collect and prepare potential adaptations for therapy interventions for neurodiverse clients.
• recognize a meltdown or shutdown and be able to apply support strategies for clients.
Dr. Jennifer Cork, DSW, LCSW, CAS, ADHD-CCSP specializes in treating neurodivergent individuals with co-occurring mental health diagnoses. Dr. Cork is a late diagnosed autistic adult and has 20 years experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities in the education, disability, and mental health systems.
