Somatic Movement is a set of movements and poses that address patterns of contraction, stress, and tension that have become normalized within the body. Using slow and subtle movements, we alter these patterns by reorganizing the way your nervous system controls and senses muscles and movement. This work is informed by the teachings of Thomas Hanna and The International Soma Yoga Institute. Gentle and deliberate movement is employed to “retrain” the brain and body. Clients experience the release of chronic tension, reduced pain, improved flexibility, and greater mobility. Somatic Movement Therapy is particularly effective for treating pain and dysfunction of the spine, hip, shoulder, knee and neck.Tension and Stress Release Exercises (TRE) is a therapeutic practice designed to help clients release deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma. TRE involves a series of simple
exercises that activate the body's natural tremoring mechanism which acts as the body's way of discharging pent-up energy, everyday stresses, and trauma. The process typically begins with a set of stretching and muscle-fatiguing exercises which help to activate the tremors. Once the tremors start, they usually occur in the legs and may spread throughout the body. The exercises
are designed to be accessible and can be adjusted to suit individual needs. Over time, regular practice of TRE may lead to improved emotional resilience and overall well-being.
