About this Event
A night to gather for intentional listening with iconic lights from the ever-expansive trans community: Ceyenne Doroshow (G.L.I.T.S) and Imara Jones (TransLash Media). Taja Cheek (L’Rain) joins this pair in conversation as the artist who incorporated interviews from the NYC Trans Oral History Project with Doroshow and Jones that appear in “People Are Small/Rapture,” a tribute to ANOHNI on TRAИƧA the album.
We'll hear selections from TRAИƧA and NYC Trans Oral History Project’s archive on RECORDAR by Deborah Garcia, a sound tower installation at Lichen NYC. We’ll also have the first ever public screenings of music videos for Sade Adu’s “Young Lion” and Lauren Auder’s “I Would Die 4 U” for the community to view together. Then we'll dive into a collective dialogue with our special guests, and close the night out with a live performance by MIZU, a cellist and composer featured on TRAИƧA.
This event will raise funds to help sustain the work of volunteer-led NYC Trans Oral History Project, as well as benefiting G.L.I.T.S, Ceyenne Doroshow’s visionary organization that provides advocacy and direct services for queer and trans people. It is free to attend for all trans folks, and a suggested $20 donation at the door for all non-trans folks attending. The TRAИƧA vinyl sampler will be available for purchase at the event, with proceeds going to the fundraiser. If you would like to donate but cannot attend, you can donate directly through Venmo @nyctransoralhistoryproject and G.L.I.T.S.’ donation page.
Presented by Red Hot in partnership with Lichen NYC. TRAИƧA features more than 100 artists celebrating trans life and artistry in a spiritual journey of 8 chapters.
