Travel Sketching and Visual Notetaking with Scott Henderson
About this Event
Explore a new way of journaling your travels with local artist, Scott Henderson, at The Local Art Gallery on Saturday, July 11 from 10:30am – 1pm. This is NOT an art class, it is more a SEEING class! NO drawing skill required!
Learn how to capture your adventures by adding sketched notes to your travel journals. This session emphasizes process over perfection and encourages a personal, expressive approach to drawing.
Explore travel sketching as a way of seeing, recording, and connecting to place. Through a series of guided exercises, participants will learn how to capture observations using line, shape, and words - building pages that reflect both what is seen and what is felt.
You will spend the first hour working on skills and techniques, the second hour focusing on field sketching around The Mill District, and then use the remaining time to enjoy some food and take a look at everyone's work!
You bring your travel sketchbook and preferred drawing implements.
Scott provides instruction, some complementing materials, and the refreshments.
$40, includes beverages - not sketching materials.

ARTIST BIO:
Based in the Berkshires, Scott Henderson creates watercolor and ink paintings inspired by movement, memory, and the places we carry within us. His work blends geometries, pathways, and shifting shapes to explore how our experiences connect and change over time. Through color and gesture, he builds quiet, abstract landscapes that invite viewers to slow down, look closely, and find their own meaning.
