for Yogic and Non-Yogic Practitioners, Caretakers and Teachers

WHERE WILL THE TRAINING BE HELD?
This training will take place in The Center Yoga Collective, located at 271 S. Liberty Street, Suite 201, in Harrisonburg, VA. We’ll be in the space on the second floor, which can be accessed by stairs or elevator. The class spaces have elevated ceilings and windows, and there are two emergency exits. Participants are encouraged to make themselves comfortable in a chair, on a mat, on a cushion, or reclining with bolsters and blankets. There is a restroom onsite and plenty of parking. The space provides a calming atmosphere, with live plants, candles, and ample natural light.
DO I NEED TO BE PRESENT IN-PERSON FOR ALL SESSIONS?
It is highly recommended that you attend all sessions in-person to partake in the experiential learning. We will not be offering remote access to any of the sessions or recording the training. For RYTs, in order to receive all 16 CE hours through the Yoga Alliance you must be present in-person for all sessions.
HOW IS THE TRAINING FORMATTED?
Our instructors, Cathleen, Liz and Jen, will guide you through the curriculum, which includes instructional content, experiential and embodied learning segments, opportunities for self-reflection and journaling, and some take-home assignments. You’ll also get the chance to practice teaching and receiving feedback, both independently and within small groups.
In honor of the body's need for movement and rest, we will split up the curriculum throughout the day to provide time for self-reflection. Participants can choose this time to take a break, or break at any time your body needs. We understand the topic of trauma can be heavy and embodied learning can bring up personal experiences with trauma, and we encourage you to listen to your body and empower yourself to respond to it with compassion, care or alone-time as needed.
In order to stay on track, we will be working while we enjoy our lunches, so PLEASE PACK A LUNCH AND SNACKS BOTH DAYS (see below for a list of things you may want to bring to the training). We will use this time for discussion and reflection, or additional instructional time as needed.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO ACHIEVE THROUGH THIS TRAINING?
This training will provide you with a basic understanding of the science and physiology of trauma.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THIS TRAINING?
We’ll be providing a 100+ page training guide, but we highly recommend participants bring their own notebook/journal and a pen. You’re welcome to bring your own mat and props,
