About this Event
Get ready for an interactive experience with the Trauma and Development series! This live training is designed to build your trauma-informed expertise step by step. Each session builds on the one before, so attending them is key to getting the full benefit. Following the first session, participants will receive the link to Part 2! Let’s dive in together!
Part 1: Understanding Trauma (10/21/2024 3p-430p PST)We’ll kick off with the essentials! In this first session, we’ll explore what trauma is, the different types that can affect students, and the risk and protective factors at play. This session sets the foundation for everything that follows—like laying the groundwork for a successful journey.
Part 2: The Impact of Trauma on Development (10/28/2024 3p-5p PST)Next, we’ll dig deeper into how trauma affects brain development and key areas like emotions, behavior, and learning. You’ll also learn how to help students meet their needs according to Maslow’s hierarchy. Be sure to attend the first session—this one really comes together when you’ve got that foundational knowledge.
Part 3: Trauma in the Classroom (11/4/2024 3p-430p PST)In our final session, we’ll bring it all together and apply what we’ve learned directly to the classroom. You’ll get hands-on tips for implementing Dr. Bruce Perry’s 3 R’s (Regulate, Relate, Reason) and discover how to build strong, resilient relationships with your students. This session ties the whole experience together, so be sure to attend the first two for a complete understanding.
