In this open conversation, Peter Boghossian and Lucian Mîndruță will explore the essence of critical thinking: what it means, why it matters, and how it can serve as a powerful tool in our lives. The dialogue invites participants to reflect on the importance of intellectual honesty, the courage to question assumptions, and the ways critical thinking can shape our daily lives and impact society at large.
The discussion promises to be an inspiring and thought-provoking experience, giving the audience a rare opportunity to engage with one of the leading voices in critical thinking, responding to questions posed by one of Romania’s most prominent journalists.
𝐃𝐫. 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐠𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 is currently a Founding Faculty Fellow at the University of Austin and the Director of the National Progress Alliance. He was a Councilman for the State of Oregon (LSTA), the Chairperson of the Prison Advisory Committee for Columbia River Correctional Institution, wrote national philosophy curricula for the University of Phoenix, a research fellow for the National Center for Teaching and Learning, a full-time faculty member in the department of philosophy at Portland State University, an Affiliate Research Assistant Professor at Oregon Health Sciences University in the Department of General Internal Medicine, an advisor for Counterweight, a Senior Fellow at Mathias Corvinus Collegium, a national speaker for the Center for Inquiry and an international speaker for the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science.
His main focus is bringing the tools of professional philosophers to people in a wide variety of contexts. Peter has a teaching pedigree spanning more than 25 years and 30 thousand students - in prisons, hospitals, public and private schools, seminaries, universities, Fortune 100 companies, and small businesses. His fundamental objective is to teach people how to think through what often seem to be intractable problems. Peter's primary research areas are critical thinking and moral reasoning. His doctoral research studies, funded by the State of Oregon and supported by the Oregon Department of Corrections, consisted of using the Socratic method to help prison inmates to increase their critical thinking and moral reasoning abilities and to increase their desistance to criminal behavior.
His partner in this conversation will be 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐢̂𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐭̦𝐚̆, journalist, television and radio presenter, and former university lecturer. Over time, he has held roles such as director at Ziarul Financiar, producer and host of a political talk show on Pro TV, which increased his prestige and status as a TV personality. Currently, Mîndruță is a radio host at DigiFM and a social media and online journalist.

A Transylvania Lectures sorozat következő alkalmán Peter Boghossian és Lucian Mîndruță a kritikai gondolkodás lényegét vizsgálja meg: mit is jelent, miért fontos, és hogyan válhat erőteljes eszközzé az életünkben. A beszélgetés arra buzdítja a résztvevőket, hogy gondolkodjanak el az intellektuális őszinteségről, nézeteik megkérdőjelezéséről és a kritikai gondolkodás társadalomformáló erejéről. A beszélgetés célja, hogy inspirálja a közönséget, és teret biztosítson a szabad eszmecserére a kritikai gondolkodás egyik legnagyobb amerikai véleményvezérével.
𝐃𝐫. 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐠𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 az Austini Egyetem alapító oktatóinak egyike, és a National Progress Alliance igazgatója. Korábban Oregon állam tanácsosa (LSTA), a Columbia River börtön tanácsadó bizottságának elnöke, a National Center for Teaching and Learning kutatási munkatársa, valamint a Portlandi Egyetem Filozófia Tanszékének oktatója volt. Dolgozott a Phoenixi Egyetem filozófiai tantervének kidolgozásán is, emellett a Counterweight szervezet tanácsadója, a Mathias Corvinus Collegium vendégkutatója, valamint a Center for Inquiry és a Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science előadója volt. Fő célja, hogy a hivatásos filozófusok eszközeit különböző környezetekben élő emberekhez eljuttassa. Több mint 25 éves oktatói munkája alatt 30 ezer tanulóval dolgozott – börtönökben, kórházakban, köz- és magánoktatásban, szemináriumokon, egyetemeken, Fortune 100-as vállalatoknál és kisvállalkozásokban is tanított. Elsődleges kutatási területei a kritikai gondolkodás és az erkölcsi érvelés.
Az eseményen beszélgetőtársa 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐢̂𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐭̦𝐚̆ újságíró, televíziós és rádiós műsorvezető, volt egyetemi oktató. A Ziarul Financiar volt igazgatója, közismert politikai talk show producere és műsorvezetője volt a Pro TV-n. Jelenleg a DigiFM rádióadó műsorvezetője, a közösségi média és online tér elismert újságírója.

La următorul eveniment din seria Transylvania Lectures, Peter Boghossian și Lucian Mîndruță vor explora esența gândirii critice: ce înseamnă aceasta, de ce contează și cum poate deveni un instrument puternic în viața noastră. Dialogul invită participanții să reflecteze asupra importanței onestității intelectuale, a curajului de a pune sub semnul întrebării presupunerile și asupra modului în care gândirea critică poate influența viața de zi cu zi și impacta societatea.
Discuția își propune să inspire publicul și să ofere un spațiu pentru un schimb liber de idei cu unul dintre cele mai importante voci ale gândirii critice din Statele Unite, răspunzând întrebărilor unui dintre cei mai proeminenți jurnaliști din România.
𝐃𝐫. 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐠𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 este membru fondator la Universitatea din Austin și director al National Progress Alliance. A fost consilier pentru statul Oregon (LSTA), președinte al Comitetului consultativ al închisorii pentru Columbia River Correctional Institution, a scris programe de filosofie pentru Universitatea din Phoenix, a fost cercetător la National Center for Teaching and Learning, cadru didactic la departamentul de filosofie de la Portland State University, a fost cercetător la Oregon Health Sciences University, consilier pentru Counterweight, Senior Fellow la Mathias Corvinus Collegium, speaker pentru Center for Inquiry și Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science.
Obiectivul său principal este de a aduce instrumentele filosofilor profesioniști în diverse contexte. Are o experiență de predare de peste 25 de ani, în care a instruit peste 30 de mii de studenți în închisori, spitale, școli publice și private, seminarii, universități, companii Fortune 100 și afaceri mici. Domeniile sale de cercetare sunt gândirea critică și raționamentul moral.
Interlocutorul său în această discuție va fi 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐢̂𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐭̦𝐚̆, jurnalist, prezentator de televiziune și radio, fost cadru didactic universitar.
