About this Event
Join Andy Hughes and Plastic Free Penzance for a unique creative experience at the iconic Jubilee Pool. Transparent Tide is an art project that transforms local plastic waste into photographic media, highlighting the beauty and fragility of our oceans. We can’t wait to see what you create!
Workshop Details:
£15 to cover costs and materials - we make no profit
Please bring your own camera and smartphone (iPhone or Android), fully charged and with any necessary cables.
A small favour: Please start hunting for some clean waste plastic to bring with you! We are looking for anything you can see through—colored plastic is fine as long as it isn't opaque. Think plastic packaging, bottles, or interesting packaging. Please ensure everything has been washed and dried.
We’ll be giving your waste a whole new life!
What You Will Do:
- Explore & Collect: Use locally gathered translucent plastic waste as your creative medium.
- Create Art: Transform discarded materials into photographs and light-responsive images.
- Learn: Draw inspiration from an internationally acclaimed artist and photographer.
- Interact with Light: See your work come to life against the backdrop of the pool's unique space and have one of your images chosen by the artist displayed in the cafe for all to see
Why Attend?
- Environmental Impact: Turn elements of the "invisible" problem of plastic pollution into a visible, powerful message.
- Expert Guidance: Work with the concepts and methods of artist Andy Hughes to create high-impact, lens-based art.
- Unique Venue: Experience a workshop in a world-class seawater lido setting.
