Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and the broader southern California region have long been the ancestral homeland of Indigenous peoples with a rich cultural history. We invite you to embark on a unique journey through time and tradition with our workshop series, led by Indigenous partners who will share their deep knowledge of the area’s cultural heritage. Throughout this series, participants will have the opportunity to explore the vibrant history and traditions of Native communities from Anza-Borrego and across southern California. In this particular workshop, you'll not only discover the cultural significance of traditional games played by Native tribes in the San Diego County area through a Payomkawichum lens, but also engage in hands-on activities, creating and playing these games for yourself. Join us to learn, play, and connect with the timeless traditions that have shaped the land and its people.
