Join us for a 45-min lecture on the region around Jupiter and a brief foray into the highlights of our winter night sky. The Jovian system is a dynamic and captivating region of our solar system. Jupiter is a vast and alien world compared to our temperate Earth, and it is surrounded by over ninety-five different moons. While each moon provides a unique insight into planetary science, four of these moons--Ganymede, Calisto, Europa, and Io--are some of the most fascinating places in our solar system. Join us as we discover the enigmatic Jupiter, the captivating moons, and one of our best hopes for life elsewhere in the solar system. The lecture will be followed by an opportunity for Q&A, and then a few hours exploring the night sky with telescopes.
