Gifted children often show themselves early. The 4-year-old who taught themself to read. The 5-year-old asking about infinity, or why the rules of a game are unfair, or how the body actually works. These children arrive at kindergarten ready for far more than most kindergartens are built to offer — and the earliest school years are exactly when the habit of loving school, or enduring it, gets set.
