About this Event
Our monthly foraging walks with resident foodie & botanist Dr. Nat Bletter, flavormeister of Madre Chocolate. Nat leads a monthly forage through the lush greenery of Makiki and Tantalus to educate and enlighten participants on the virtues of eating slow off the land. During this 3 hour tour, participants learn about all the edibles available to them right outside their front or back door. You'll be in great hands as you learn about, and get to taste the incredible plant life - seeds, flowers, fruit, vines, etc. growing wild and available to everyone. With enough gathered greens (and sometimes reds and purples!) we'll make a tasty wild salad with Dr. Nat's popular tasty salad dressing to see how wonderful all these wild foods can taste!
Expanding your diet by including wild plants helps add to your gut's biodiversity, and diversity is the spice of life and keeps us healthy!
Bring a fork and a plate, and bags for gathering. Come equipped with walking shoes, comfortable clothes, sun and/or rain protection and lots of water. This tour is great for kids of all ages as they tend to absorb all the important information even better than their parents!
If you have a group of kids or adults that want to arrange a private tour, please get in touch with us
We will send the location of the meeting point at the trailhead in central Honolulu the day before the hike. Please check your spam folder if you do not see an email with the location.
Please come with an open mind and appetite for learning (and eating). If you are not sure of the plant life, please DO NOT put it in your mouth.
