Calling all fiddlers, ballad singers, folk dancers, bodhrán players, and keen spectators! Come on down for a night of folk music from Iceland, Appalachia, Ireland, England, and farther afield, hosted by the lovely folks at Ægir. This is a special session for the 2025 Vaka Folk Festival.
The Reykjavík Trad Sessions is an informal collective of musicians who get together to play sessions--loosely organized nights of traditional reels, jigs, & songs in a pub atmosphere--and we're eager to bring the experience to you! Newcomers are most welcome: if you play or sing songs from your region, we'd love to hear them.
Dancers, onlookers, and town jesters are invited as well.
We'll play starting at 20:00 and go until just before the bar closes at 22:45. Ægir is located at Laugavagur 2, 101 Reykjavík--the basement bar at the corner of Skólavörðustígur.
We'd encourage everyone to help support Ægir by buying drinks & bringing friends along!
