Come join us at the University of Lincoln, Riseholme Campus for a morning filled with outdoor adventure and mammal exploration! Tracks and Trails is the perfect event for anyone wanting to learn how to spot mammal signs and help with citizen science - we'll show you how to use Mammal Mapper, how to create your own footprint tunnels and take you along for our last transect walks of the challenge.

University of Lincoln students, taking part in the University Mammal Challenge, will be running the event at our Riseholme Park Campus on the 11th of April 2025.

Join us for a short talk where you'll learn all about citizen science activities that you can do at home, and take a look at the amazing mammals we captured over the last 3 months at Riseholme on our camera traps too. We’ll then conduct a guided walk, taking you along our transect routes while we show you how to spot mammal signs and tracks! Finally, you'll be making your very own footprint tunnels to use at home - who knows what mammals you'll discover? We're providing each person with their very own 'mammal pack' too - use this after the event to help you find mammals in your local areas. Places are limited.

For university students there is a free shuttle bus leaving from the LAC at 8:30am which gets to Riseholme at 8:55am. There is a shuttle bus back to Brayford campus that leaves at 12:15pm.

This event is open to members of the public. Please email environment@lincoln.ac.uk if you are attending with a car by Thursday 10th April 2025 so we can manage parking for the event.

Please wear appropriate clothing for this event, and we recommend sturdy shoes (walking boots/shoes). You’re also welcome to bring your own nature guide books. Fully charged phones are recommended as we will show you how to log sightings on a citizen science mobile app.

Please be advised that dogs are not permitted at this event or on the centre of Riseholme Park Campus. If you bring a dog, you will not be able to attend this event.

The University of Lincoln reserves the right to cancel events due to unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather.
