Step inside one of Bradford on Avon's most fascinating historic buildings as the Town Bridge Lock Up opens its doors for Heritage Open Days.
From Thursday 17 September to Saturday 19 September, from 10am to 4pm, you'll have the rare opportunity to explore this unique former prison cell, perched above the River Avon on the medieval Town Bridge.
Originally built as a 13th-century chapel, the building was later converted into the town's lock up, or "blind house", where prisoners and overnight drunks were held before appearing before the magistrate. Today, it remains one of Bradford on Avon's most unusual historic landmarks.
Every year, visitors flock to see this remarkable building, but the inside is only open to the public during Heritage Open Days. Volunteers will be on hand to guide you into the lock up and share its fascinating history.
There's no need to book – simply come along to the Town Bridge and discover one of Bradford on Avon's hidden historic treasures.
