About this Event
Location: Dillard University Lawless Memorial Chapel, 2601 Gentilly Boulevard, New Orleans, LA
Louisiana residents are invited to a timely and informative Town Hall focused on The One Big Beautiful Bill Act —a sweeping federal proposal with far-reaching implications for the state’s families, health systems, and economic future. The Town Hall is designed to provide a clear, nonpartisan overview of the bill’s key provisions, with particular attention to changes affecting Medicaid, SNAP, rural hospitals, and broader economic policy. Attendees will gain insight into how these proposed reforms could impact Louisiana residents—especially low-income families, seniors, immigrants, and rural communities—whose health and financial stability often hang in the balance of federal decisions.
What to Expect?
More than just a policy briefing, the Town Hall will elevate community voices, creating space for residents, advocates, and providers to share lived experiences, ask questions, and express concerns. Personal testimony from local residents and nonprofit partners will ground the conversation in real-world impact, while expert analysis will help attendees understand the legal, health, and economic dimensions of the bill.
Featured speakers include Chief Shaun Ferguson from the Office of Congressman Troy Carter, offering a federal policy perspective; a policy strategist from Families USA; legal expert from the National Health Law Program (NHeLP); community leaders and health system leaders and advocates, ensuring a balanced and inclusive dialogue.
Organizers emphasize that this gathering is not just about policy—it’s about people.
Hosted by the Louisiana Center for Health Equity (LCHE) and a consortium of local partners and the League of Women Voters of Louisiana.
The forum is open to the public. Seating is first come, first served.
