Tour the Completed Expansion at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame
1 AIA Learning Unit
Back in March, we took you behind the scenes on a hard hat tour of the expansion at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in Fort Worth's Cultural District. Now that the project is celebrating its grand opening, join us to experience the finished space firsthand! Led once again by Gannon Gries, AIA Ewing Cole, along with Reza Azard of PROJECTILES, the Paris-based design collaborator on the project.
Together, they'll walk through the design thinking, material choices, and technical coordination that shaped the museum's new 18,000-square-foot addition — now complete and ready to explore in full.
The expansion is constructed with full-height precast concrete panels, with the panel materiality and finish refined through multiple mock-ups to complement the existing cast-stone and brick building while introducing a bold new architectural character. The building is crowned by a bas-relief frieze depicting a galloping horse, inspired by early chronophotographs of Étienne-Jules Marey.
