Join Central Chapter of Indiana Native Plant Society (INPS) for a fun and fascinating in-person tour of the Indiana Medical History Museum and Garden! Explore medical artifacts, hear cool stories from the past, and enjoy the beautiful garden setting. This special event is exclusively for Indiana Native Plant Society members, so it’s a great chance to connect with fellow enthusiasts while discovering Indiana’s medical history firsthand.

IMHM is located in the Old Pathology Building which was once part of the Central Indiana Hospital for the Insane (later known as Central State Hospital). The lab served the hospital from 1896-1968 and includes a chemistry lab, histology lab, library, photography lab, amphitheater, and more. The Medicinal Plant Garden was installed in 2005 and includes about 150 species of medicinal plants, all labeled with their names and how they've been used medicinally.
Visitors can expect a one-hour tour of the two floors of the Old Pathology Building. If anyone cannot climb stairs, please provide in comment upon registration for set up a video tour of the upstairs.
The garden tour will also last about an hour and will be guided by one of IMHM's wonderful master gardeners.
This is strictly a members event. Adult tickets are $10 per person; senior (65+) tickets are $9 per person; college students are $7 per person, and children under 18 are $5 per person. Guests of INPS members must pay said admission fees. Registered, confirmed members of INPS will have their ticket covered.
This event is limited to current members of INPS. Due to the anticipated popularity, membership will be confirmed prior to tour.
