About this Event
After two years in the making, Balboa Park’s historic Botanical Building is nearing the completion of its first restoration in more than 100 years. It has been a massive project, far larger and more complicated than anyone anticipated.
On this tour, you’ll meet engineer Jim Summers of EC Constructor, the contractor who has run the entire project, Forever Balboa Park’s Jackie Higgins, interim Co-CEO and VP of Planning who has been with the project since its inception close to a decade ago, and Nan Sterman who designed the gardens inside the building.
We’ll talk about the history and process of the project, the structural restoration, and the design and installation of entirely new gardens that incorporate bits of the old. The new structure is stunning and the garden is “otherworldly."
THIS EVENT IS LIMITED TO 20 PARTICIPANTS. This event is approved for 1 CEU.
