This year the Tom Watkins & Woodland Heights Neighborhoods will be teaming up for a joint Neighborhood Cleanup event (aka Dumpster Day)!!!! The cleanup will be held on April 18th from 8:00am until 12:00pm. We will have dumpsters set up at 304 W Chase Street for residents of the neighborhoods to dispose of items.We CAN accept the following items: Limbs (max length of 6 feet/ max diameter of 10 inches), leaves, mattresses, unwanted household items, building materials, non-freon appliances, and scrap metal.
We CANNOT accept: Hazardous waste (fluorescent bulbs, paint, oil, varnish, etc.), appliances w/ freon (refrigerators and air conditioners), documents to be shredded, and grass clippings.
FREE RECYCLING: Bring your TV & computer monitors, tires, bicycles, and clean, dry, flat cardboard to be recycled at no cost to you!
If you live in the Tom Watkins or Woodland Heights Neighborhoods and have items that you can't manage to get to the dumpsters—our amazing volunteers MAY be able to help you out with curbside pickup! *If you received a postcard in the mail about the Dumpster Day event, please bring it with you to the dumpster site.
**This clean-up is sponsored by the City of Springfield, coordinated by Community Partnership of the Ozarks, and staffed by Tom Watkins & Woodland Heights neighborhood association volunteers. Please be aware, we may not have available volunteers on-site to assist with unloading your items. Please be prepared to possibly unload items without assistance. We reserve the right to refuse any junk, trash, or waste that would be a threat to the health or safety of a volunteer or the public.
How can I help?
Several jobs are available and you can contribute regardless of physical abilities. Most volunteers help empty items out of trucks, trunks, and trailers into dumpsters.
We also have people to check-in volunteers, vehicles, help direct traffic, answer questions, and other less physical tasks. (Bring your own stool or chair.)
And we’ll need some help with curbside pickup!
