Join us to learn how to graft edible pears onto the invasive Bradford pear! This workshop is taught by local grafting expert and educator Richard Herman. Richard has been grafting trees and creating a "genetic library" on his permaculture farm for more than 35 years. He will guide participants through the process of turning an invasive Bradford tree into a host for an edible pear variety by demonstrating grafting scionwood from the latter onto the Bradford "stock." Participants will also have an opportunity to try grafting. For this reason, the workshop is limited to eight participants.
Bring your own knives and boots (to cross the creek); we will provide the rest.
Drinks + Snacks provided
This workshop is for adults and hosted at the Wild Arts Learning Center in Springfield, MO. For locals: just out east Sunshine and around the bend from Turner's Station off J Hwy. The address and directions are emailed upon booking.
