Please join us as we celebrate the life of Thomas McQuillan. We will celebrate the incredible man he was on Sunday, June 1st from 9am to 11am at Bridgewood Resort Hotel in The Garden Terrace. Thomas “Mac” McQuillan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 25th, 2024, at the age of 66.
Tom was born in Neenah and spent the first 16 years of his life in Menasha. He then moved to Range, WI and graduated from Turtle Lake High School. He has many fond memories of Turtle Lake and continued to visit the area with his family every year making many beautiful memories in Chetek on the lakes that surround.
Tom worked at Essity in Neenah for 45 years where he was a Journeyman Industrial Electrician, he gained many meaningful friendships there.
Tom spent countless hours on the softball diamond enjoying his time as a beloved coach, not only for his daughters, but also for the countless girls he impacted as the Menasha Varsity Softball Coach.
In his free time, Tom loved to hunt and work on his tractor at his land in Bear Creek. He was always up there making the land a place for his family to enjoy.
His biggest pride and accomplishment, though, was his family. He was so proud of the 3 daughters he raised and the grandchildren he was blessed with. His biggest love was his wife that he spent the greater part of his life with. They were married on October 5th, 1985. If you were lucky enough to see their love, you knew the depth of what they shared is what most people dream of. Tom taught his family what love looked like and he will forever be missed.
Tom was born with the genetic kidney disease, Alport syndrome, and he was given the gift of life with a kidney donated to him by his father when he was 33 years old. He felt the desire to help with furthering research in hopes of bettering life of those affected by the disease in any capacity that he could. He donated his temporal bone to current research being done for Alport syndrome.
Tom is survived by his wife Dawn (Peterson) McQuillan; 3 daughters Amy (Brian) Rhodes, Elizabeth (Arthur) Rhodes, Rebecca (Kevin) O’Connell; seven grandchildren Ben, Ella, Aubree, Maya, Austin, Harper and Vayda; his step father Samuel Jackson; two siblings Tracey (Scott) Dedering and John (Amy) McQuillan; sisters-in-law Laura McQuillan, Kathy (Pat) Crane; brothers-in-law John Peterson, Bill (Julie) Peterson, Patrick Peterson; and many nieces and nephews.
Tom is preceded in death by parents John McQuillan, and Arlene (McClelland) Jackson; his brother Marcus McQuillan Sr.; and stepmother Ellen McQuillan.
In lieu of flowers we would love to have you dedicate a donation in memory of Tom McQuillan to the family’s Cornhole for Kidneys Fundraiser Event, raising awareness and funds for Alport Syndrome research (linked below).
