Welcome to The Cultural Arts Series at Van Vleck House & Gardens!

The 2026–27 Cultural Arts Series expands our programming with an exciting mix of thought-provoking talks, live performances, film, and music spanning a range of genres and perspectives. At the heart of the series is a continued commitment to celebrating extraordinary hometown talent, bringing accomplished Montclair artists, writers, performers, and cultural voices together with exceptional guests from beyond our community.

About This Event

Season two of our Cultural Events Series opens with a special screening of Chris and Martina: The Final Set, a Netflix documentary and intimate portrait of two of the most accomplished athletes in tennis history. Exploring their extraordinary careers, personal challenges, and lasting legacies, the film offers a compelling look at excellence, resilience, and determination both on and off the court.

Following the screening, audiences will join Rebecca Gitlitz, the film's director, and Jon Wertheim, executive producer, for a special conversation about the making of the documentary. Together, they will share behind-the-scenes insights into the creative process of telling the story of Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova and reflect on the enduring impact of their historic rivalry and friendship.

The evening will conclude with a moderated discussion and audience Q&A, offering guests a unique opportunity to engage directly with the filmmakers behind this acclaimed production.

Parking Information

Parking is available in our Van Vleck Street and North Mountain Avenue Parking Lots. Please do not park on Van Vleck Street.

• The parking lots are one-way only: follow signage for the entrance and exit.
• The entrance gate for Van Vleck Street is located on Van Vleck Street, closer to North Mountain Avenue than the main entrance to the house.
• Slowly approach the gates to activate the sensors—no pass is required.
• Additional parking is permitted along North Mountain Avenue.
• Please note: Parking is not allowed on Van Vleck Street at any time.
