About this Event
Across three unforgettable days, Theater with a Mission invites the community to step into Revolutionary Florida as history marches, dances, and speaks at the Time Travel to Florida Festival 1776.
Friday, May 29, at 6 pm kicks off with a spirited parade, proclamation, and opening ceremonies, followed by an EFL Rangers militia drill on the lawn, a lively dance lesson, and the theatrical drama Feuding Families in Florida, 1776, with food trucks fueling the fun.
On Saturday, May 30, at 10 am the grounds transform into a living 18th-century village, filled with a parades breaking news from the Revolution, hands-on activities for children of all ages, from pony rides, petting zoo, stickball, drills, and animal talks to historic foodways, dress-up booths, flag-making, storytelling, expert talks, music demonstrations, and afternoon tea.
As night falls, music, drama, news flashes from Philadelphia, welcoming of new arrivals, and a grand Revolutionary Ball bring the day to a rousing close.
Sunday, from 12 noon to 6 pm deepens the journey with parades, proclamations, news from the front, and powerful scholarly panels exploring Natives, Blacks, Women, Hispanics, and the French in the Revolution, followed by Evensong presided over by John Forbes and a final presentation of Feuding Families in Florida, 1776, complete with horseback arrivals and historic food, history fully alive from start to finish.
