About This Class
Turn a plain shirt into a wearable explosion of color. In this relaxed, hands-on session you'll learn the classic folding and binding techniques behind every great tie-dye pattern — spiral, crumple, bullseye, and stripes — then apply fiber-reactive dye at your own station. We supply the dyes, gloves, and everything you need to make a mess (the good kind).
Bring a pre-washed 100% cotton shirt in white or a very light color — natural fibers hold the color best (fiber-reactive dye won't bond to polyester). Don't have one? We'll have a limited number of blank shirts available for purchase on the day, though color and size can't be guaranteed, so bringing your own is the safest bet.
Your dyed piece goes home wrapped and ready to cure. We'll send you off with simple rinse-and-reveal instructions so you can unwrap the final result the next day. No experience needed — just wear clothes you don't mind getting a little colorful.
What You'll Learn
Welcome + safety and glove-up (10 min); demo of fold/bind techniques — spiral, crumple, bullseye, stripes (15 min); students fold & bind shirts (20 min); dye application at stations (45 min); bag, label & take-home cure instructions (10 min); cleanup (20 min). Reveal happens at home: students rinse after a 6-24h cure.
What to Bring
A pre-washed 100% cotton (or high-cotton-blend) shirt in white or a very light color — natural fibers only, as fiber-reactive dye will not bond to polyester. Wear old clothes and closed-toe shoes you don't mind staining.
