Throwing Off the Hump | Intermediate Pottery Class

Learn one of the most efficient wheel-throwing techniques in this focused ceramics class on throwing off the hump. Instead of centering a new ball of clay for every piece, you'll learn how to throw multiple small forms from a single larger mound of clay—perfect for creating cups, bowls, condiment dishes, and other repeatable forms. This class will cover proper centering, pulling consistent shapes, cutting pieces from the hump, and refining your workflow to increase speed and consistency. Ideal for potters with basic wheel-throwing experience who are ready to improve their efficiency and produce matching sets with confidence.

Throwing Off the Hump is an intermediate-level class - some prior clay experience is required. You must be comfortable centering up to 2 pounds of clay prior to taking.
