THREE TRAY DYEING, COLLAGE & STITCH Members w/s with Jill Rumble

Thank you for registering for our TMS Members Workshop – 3 Tray Dyeing, Collage & Stitch with Jill Rumble.

Date: SATURDAY 16 November, 2024 - Time: 10am – 4pm

Venue: Lions Club Hall, 8 Russell Drysdale St., East Gosford

We will spend the morning rusting our fabric, paper and canvases in many shades of rusty red/yellows, browns and grey blues. The results are quite a surprise, random and fast. Fabric & papers can also be folded, pleated or scrunched to create different results. This is a great way to get random marks on your surfaces as a start to your artwork.

In the afternoon, once our dyed pieces are dry, we will embellish, collage and stitch to enhance them.

This will be a great day to play and experiment.

We will supply:

Trays and ingredients for the solutions1 x thin edged canvas1 x piece of fabric1 x piece of paperSome collage scraps of paper and textileGlue

You will need to bring;

• Gloves to protect your hands as the rusting solution will stain your hands.• Fabric no bigger than 50 x 50cms – cotton, silk, linen etc. Natural fabrics are best but synthetics will work.• Paper – heavy enough to sustain getting quite wet.• 1 or 2 extra thin edged canvases - (thick edge ones don’t fit in the trays very well).• Threads for stitching with – not too thick. (Although you can couch thicker threads and strips of fabric down).• Collage materials – scraps of whatever you have lying around – fabric, packing materials, corrugated cardboard, leaves, knitting wool etc.• If you want to fold or pleat your fabric or paper then bring along some string, pegs or bull-dog clips to hold it in place.• Anything else that you think might be useful to collage or stitch with – a limited colour palette would be best. •

Please wear closed in shoes and bring your lunch. Tea/coffee/milk/morning tea will be available at the studio.
