About this Event
A friendly, hands-on workshop for women to explore identity through simple crafts, colour, and texture. Inspired by Eastern & Central European creativity, this session blends making, reflection and connection — helping you feel grounded, creative, and supported.
No experience needed — just curiosity. Child-friendly, with refreshments and materials provided.
What to expect:
- Mini Weaving: “My Identity Threads”
Create a small woven piece using yarn, ribbon and fabric scraps. Choose colours and textures that represent your strengths, roles and stories. - Comfort Pocket (Herb & Textile Craft)
Make a small fabric pouch with calming herbs (e.g. lavender, mint, chamomile) — a simple wellbeing tool to keep in your bag or by your desk. - Red Thread Bracelet (Slavic Simplicity)
Craft a bracelet (braid/twist/knot) as a personal reminder of what you want more of — calm, energy, focus or connection. - Light Sharing & Connection
A relaxed space to share what you made and what you noticed — pressure-free, supportive and practical. - Gentle Wellbeing Tools
Easy ideas for reducing stress, using colour for mood, and finding small moments of calm in a busy day.
The workshop is designed to help you feel valued, creative, empowered and connected, while celebrating the resilience and achievements of women everywhere
Part of the Make Share Heal programme
This session is part of Make Share Heal — a 12‑month wellbeing programme for women aged 18–49 in Pype Hayes, Birmingham. The project strengthens emotional wellbeing, builds resilience, and brings women together through creativity and shared experiences. It warmly welcomes migrant women from Ukraine, Poland, and across Central and Eastern Europe, as well as local women seeking connection and support.
Alongside the workshop, participants can access optional one‑to‑one support and signposting to local services including housing, employment support, mental health services, childcare, and community resources. Multilingual support is available.
Facilitator
The workshop is facilitated by Monika Lenard, an experienced women’s group leader with over 20 years of practice in creating safe, trauma‑informed environments for personal growth and community connection. Monika brings compassion, cultural awareness, and a deep commitment to helping women feel grounded, empowered and supported. She weaves together circle dances, gentle breathing techniques, traditional folk influences and creative arts, offering an inclusive experience shaped by cultural heritage and wellbeing.
