About this Event

This event is part of the Green Library Hub project, funded by the National Lottery. The project supports libraries and their communities to take climate action through local events, activities and learning.

Workshop Description:

In this practical workshop all skill levels are welcome, whether you’ve never picked up a needle or are looking to refresh your skills. We will cover essential repair techniques, from securing a button to patching over holes. By extending the lifespan of your clothes, you’ll fight back against disposable fashion and walk away with the practical confidence to care for your textiles for years to come.

Accompanying Book:

The Emperor’s New Clothes by Hans Christian Andersen. A playful, classic fairy tale used as a modern lens to discuss the "illusion" of fast fashion trends. Together, we’ll look past the invisible, low-quality threads of consumerism and focus instead on the true value of carefully maintained garments.
