Third Saturday: World Elephant Day Celebration

The Elephant Discovery Center will once again host a variety of educational and entertaining events that are free and open to all ages, on the 'Third Saturday' of each month through December 2026. Events will include storytelling, enrichment and craft-making, as well as the opportunity to meet The Sanctuary’s dedicated elephant Vet and Care Staff to gain insight into the daily care routines and behind-the-scenes operations at The Elephant Sanctuary.
Join us on August 15th at The Discovery Center in downtown Hohenwald to celebrate World Elephant Day! Enjoy some (human) snacks as you learn how to do leaf rubbings with the elephant’s favorite plant snacks. Then discover how palm oil affects wild elephants and what you can do to help elephants in your day-to-day life.
This event is free and perfect for the whole family—folks of all ages can take part.
