SOUTH HAVEN, MI - It’s corny. It’s comical and it’s all for fun as the "Thing-a-ma-jig" parade returns during the Michigan Flywheelers Museum’s Antique Engine and Tractor Show.
One of the shows most entertaining family-friendly traditions, the parade, which takes place on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. showcases custom-built quirky machines ranging from modified riding lawnmowers to whimsical homemade contraptions. Drivers often rig up life-sized dummies, mannequin passengers or oversized mascots like giant Big Bird figures to add humor to their creations.
If you can’t make it to the show on Saturday, there is a sneak preview of the parade on Friday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m.
Along with hundreds of antique farm machinery, the Antique Engine and Tractor Show, which starts Thursday, Sept. 10 and runs through Sunday, Sept. 13, features daily entertainment, a large outdoor flea market, antique tractor pulls, kids activities and more. Admission is $10 per person with children 12 and under free. Admission specials include Senior Citizen Day on Thursday with admission reduced to $5 for 62 and older, and the Sunday Special when admission is $5 for everyone. Gates open at 8 a.m.
