SOUTH HAVEN, MI — Have you ever tasted a plump, juicy ear of sweet corn cooked by a 1900s steam traction engine?
Visitors will have the chance to do just that at the Michigan Flywheelers Museum’s annual Antique Engine and Tractor Show running Thursday, Sept. 10 through Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026.
While the show boasts hundreds of antique farm machines, daily entertainment, a sprawling outdoor flea market, kids’ activities, parades and antique tractor pulls, it’s the steam-cooked sweet corn that draws a crowd year after year.
"We hear from a lot of our visitors that the first thing they do when they get here is get some corn," says Pat Ingalls, museum president.
Steamed in an antique Nichols & Shepard steam traction engine, museum members serve over 2,000 ears of sweet corn throughout the four-day event. Wearing protective rubber gloves, volunteers husk the corn piping-hot straight out of the steam boiler before smothering it in butter.
Gates open at 8 a.m. rain or shine. Admission is $10. Children 12 and under are free with a paid adult admission. Thursday is Senior’s Day and admission is $5 for those 62 and over. On Sunday, admission is only $5 for adults. This is a pet-free event for general admission visitors.
There is a $30 registration fee for Personal Transportation Vehicles, such as golf carts and is valid for the entire duration of the event.
Rustic camping sites are available on a first-come basis. Cost is $40 per night and includes admission for two people. Pets are allowed with exhibitors, campers and vendors only and must stay at camp site. . Registration opens Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 8:00 AM.
